Design, create and implement high quality realistic and stylized effects from initial concept through to final rendering for film and television. Effects range from liquid and smoke simulations to abstract particle and procedural geometry effects.
Design, create and implement efficient methods, tools and workflows.
Understand and work within the studio/show/pipeline structure.
Work with fellow artists and Pipeline team to improve FX processes.
Mentor and train junior artists on technique and workflow best practices.
Cooperatively work with 2D and 3D departments to determine what effects elements are needed for given shots and schedule for successful delivery of those elements.
Integrate elements into scenes with lighting and shading.
Document technologies.
Follow creative direction communicated by Supervisors and Production team.
Minimum 5 years experience in Film/Television as an FX Artist/TD.
A high level of Houdini and Maya experience and knowledge is required to develop high quality photo-real dynamic effects; water, fire, smoke, clouds, explosions, etc.
Senior level experience with rigid body dynamics and particle systems.
Ability to work around tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of coding/scripting in current production languages, Python, Hscript, C++ and Mel.
Working knowledge of Nuke is preferred.
Solid understanding of shading and rendering techniques.
