CFX Artist

Mr. X is a creative production studio, complete with in-house Art, Creature, Editorial, and Visual Effects Departments. We collaborate with A-list directors, production teams, and filmmakers to develop projects from conception to completion. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set up and run simulations for hair, muscle, cloth, and other secondary dynamics
  • Collaborate closely with animation and lighting departments to ensure high-quality integration of simulations into shots
  • Solve complex simulation issues including collisions, interpenetration, and performance
  • Optimize simulations for efficient rendering and iteration across episodic and film timelines
  • Maintain continuity of CFX work across sequences and shots
  • Participate in dailies, incorporating notes from supervisors and directors

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years of professional CFX experience in film/VFX (adjust for level)
  • Proficiency in Houdini (Vellum, cloth/hair/muscle solvers) or similar simulation tools
  • Strong understanding of physics-based simulation and problem-solving
  • Experience troubleshooting simulation artifacts and collisions
  • Familiarity with rendering pipelines and optimization
  • Experience with Rigging or Grooming a strong plus
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-departmentally
