After graduating from the Digital Animation program at Centennial College in 1999, Warren Lawtey began his career as a CG Generalist in Toronto’s film and commercial industries. By 2002, he specialized in FX simulation, spending the next 18 years leading teams of FX artists on television and feature film projects.
In 2016, he joined MR. X as an FX Supervisor, contributing to multiple seasons of Vikings, which brought him a Primetime Emmy Award, as well as films such as Monster Hunter and Hellboy (2019). In 2020, he expanded into CG Supervision, beginning with Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, earning him a VES Award for Outstanding Created Environment in an Animated Feature, followed by Into the Lost Lands and Wednesday (Season 2).
Alongside his role as CG Supervisor, Warren continues to focus on FX simulation, most recently serving as FX Supervisor on Frankenstein (2025).
