Jordan Nieuwland grew up in a family of artists, so the jump to a creative career was a natural one. A Seneca College Digital Media Arts alum, he built a rigorous foundation in digital painting, 3D and compositing before spending two decades shaping the look of major projects across film and television. His feature credits include Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, 300, Ad Astra, Hellboy, Shazam! and the Academy Award best picture winner The Shape of Water and leading a team of artists to design the worlds of Monster Hunter and In the Lost Lands. On the series side, Nieuwland’s work spans Game of Thrones, Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities, The Nevers and Apple TV+’s Foundation and The Borgias which Jordan received an Emmy nomination. Outside the world of VFX and production design, he collects vinyl, plays tennis and spends time with his two sons.
