Atilla Ceylan was born and raised in the vibrant city of Vienna, Austria, where he also studied arts and animation. From a young age, he developed a passion for designing characters and creatures, always dreaming of building a career in this creative niche.
After graduating in 2010, Atilla’s skill set quickly attracted the attention of studios around the world. Among them, MR. X stood out with a simple yet profound message: “We want to work WITH you.” That spirit of collaboration resonated deeply, and 15 years later, Atilla continues to thrive alongside his colleagues at MR. X, including founder and mentor Dennis Berardi, who embodies that same vision.
MR. X has played a key role in Atilla’s evolution as an artist, providing the platform to contribute to world-class projects and ultimately realize a lifelong ambition: launching the CreatureShop, a dedicated department within the studio. As the head of CreatureShop, Atilla leads a talented team of both experienced and emerging artists. Together, they tackle everything from creature studies, concept design, and digital doubles to facial performance, transformations, muscle systems, grooms (hair, fur, and feathers), and even 3D printing for physical fabrication.
Recent credits include Wednesday Season 2, Jackal, Cabinet of Curiosities, and the upcoming Netflix feature Frankenstein, where the team’s creature and character work brings fantastical worlds to life. Atilla continues to push the boundaries of character-driven VFX, blending artistry and technology to turn imagination into reality.
