    • Compositor - NYC

      Mr. X is looking for talented compositors to work on high-end feature film projects. Responsibilities include:

      • Working closely with Compositing Supervisor to determine best approach to solve compositing challenges and develop final look,
      • Performing tasks such as tracking, matte extraction, colour correction, paint fixes, roto and assembly of live action and 3D elements,
      • Producing a final overall look that far exceeds client expectations.

      Qualifications:

      • Must have at least two years experience in compositing digital visual effects for feature film,
      • Must have thorough knowledge and ability to use the tools that produce Digital Composites such as NUKE, Shake, Combustion, Flame and Photoshop,
      • Must present a show reel highlighting candidate’s eye for colour, lighting, attention to detail and composition,
      • The candidate must have the ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines,

    • Roto Artist - Toronto

      Mr. X is looking for experienced roto and paint cleanup artists to work on high-end HDTV and feature film projects.

      The position:

      Using Nuke software to create rotoscope mattes, and plate cleanup for use in compositing. Some basic compositing skills are required.

      Responsibilities include:

      • creating articulated rotoscope and garbage mattes
      • tracking marker, wire, seam and rig removal
      • photo real animated paint cleanup
      • working closely with compositors and supervisors
      • working efficiently under tight deadlines and meeting productivity and quota targets

    • Matchmover/Tracking Artist - Toronto

      Mr. X Inc. is seeking a Senior/Intermediate Tracking Artist for upcoming feature film projects.

      Responsibilities include:

      • 3D Camera tracking - recreating the movement of a stereo live-action camera in 3D, set extensions - ensuring 3d objects placed in a 3D virtual environment are accurately tracked.
      • Using the measurements and pictures of the live-action set, camera information, distortion grids, and scaling reference of characters and objects to recreate a virtual set in 3D.
      • Matchmoving rigid and non-rigid objects on moving elements in the plate.
      • Removing lens distortion from the plates to aid in the solving of tracks.

      Qualifications:

      • Expert knowledge of PFTrack or 3Dequalizer (knowledge of Boujou a plus).
      • Thorough knowledge and experience with Maya.
      • On set production experience is desirable.
      • Previous stereoscopic film production experience a plus
      • Knowledge of a tracking software's scripting language is desirable.
      • Meticulous attention to detail with a great eye for camera, blocking plus composition and must work well under pressure for potentially short turnaround deadines.
      • Able to take direction and feedback well from supervisor.
      • A minimum of two years of feature film experience required.

    • Modeling/Texture Artist - Toronto

      We are currently looking for a Modeling/Texture Artist.

      Responsibilities:

      • 3D Modeling and Texturing for feature films, using a wide range of reference material,
      • Work very closely with the shader writers, look development artists and the riggers to generate organic or rigid object models that are suitable for feature film work,
      • Creating textures for CG Assets
      • With guidance from CG Supervisors, helping to determine the best approach to solve 3D challenges and develop final look.


      Qualifications:

      • Strong spatial awareness and a good sense of form, scale and proportion, and a keen eye for detail,
      • A full working knowledge of modeling in Maya is required,
      • Ability to deliver a model with clean topology and strong UV layout skills for texturing,
      • Ability to work with Z-brush and/or Mudbox
      • A full working knowledge of Photoshop basics
      • Mari Experience preferred
      • Knowledge of Houdini would be an advantage,
      • Knowledge of Linux would be an advantage,
      • 3+ years of experience Modeling for Feature Films is required.

    • FX Artist - NYC

      Responsibilities:

      • Work closely with VFX Supervisors and Leads to determine best approach to solve effects challenges and develop final look in shot development
      • Work with other TDs, art directors and designers to create photo-real effects and physically accurate simulations
      • Accurately interpret concept art and design from the Art Department
      • Use and understand 3D / 2D applications such as Houdini, Maya, and Nuke
      • Provide input regarding tools and interfaces to improve throughput
      • Producing a final overall look that far exceeds client expectations.

      Qualifications:

      • Feature film production experience working with Houdini and/or Maya
      • Experience with RealFlow, FumeFX, and Naiad a plus
      • Experience lighting and rendering with Mantra, Renderman, and V-Ray a plus
      • Ability to script in Python and Hscript. C++ and HDK and plus

      Responsibilities:

      Render Farm Management:

      • Detect and troubleshoot failed jobs
      • Follow-up crashed jobs and jobs killed because they were hung
      • Monitor, diagnose and resolve/escalate malfunctioning farm hosts
      • Keep the render farm running at maximum capacity
      • Monitor file systems for space availability
      • Monitor render farm I/O utilization

      • Administration and support of Linux (CentOS primarily), Windows (Windows 7 and Server 2003/2008) and Macintosh desktop computers, involving both hardware and software troubleshooting

      Required Skills:

Demo Reel Submission Guidelines

Please send us a DVD of the work that you are most proud of and that best demonstrates your abilities, starting with your most recent work. Music is not necessary. Your demo reel should be limited to 3 minutes in length.

Include a credit list explaining what you did on your reel and what software (if applicable) was used to achieve the effects.
